Welcome to CERA

Expertise and insight, driven by rigorous analysis and subject knowledge…

Cardiff Economic Research Associates is a highly focussed and effective economic and management consultancy group that was constituted in 1991 by a small number of academics based at Cardiff Business School. Its mission is to provide clients, with practical solutions to economic and commercial problems. All members of the team are research led and practice driven. The team deploys cutting-edge scientific tools and techniques to analyse problems and issues of direct relevance to private and public organisations. The analytical methods employed by the team derive from tried and tested academic and business research.

The areas of expertise of the team cover economics, governance, finance, marketing research, and risk analysis. CERA offers unbiased advice based on sound academic research and the broad experience acquired from interaction with firms and public bodies. It offers training (lectures and seminars) on a wide area of subjects covered by the team’s expertise. The team is committed to the highest standards of academic integrity and will only undertake projects that they can value-add. Reports are confidential and are available only to the commissioning client.

CERA began by undertaking sub-contracted commercial research through Cardiff University from institutions such as Unilever, Welsh Development Agency, European Commission, and PIEDA management consultancy. It quickly developed a reputation for rigorous analysis and attracted commissions from the financial sector and national government departments and agencies. Most of its research consultancy is confidential to its clients but some have been published in scholarly journals with client permission, such as Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of Economics & Business, International Review of Applied Economics, and Applied Economics.

Recently, it has undertaken supporting research for Professor Victoria Wass of Cardiff Business School,  http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/people/view/610669-wass-victoria who is a noted authority on claims for loss of earnings from workplace injury, discrimination, or medical negligence. CERA has conducted technical analysis on risk, cost-benefit and project evaluation, strategic review, benchmarking, brand valuation, market analysis as well as training seminars on finance, banking and macroeconomics.
